Shelter Island Book Club - The Stationary Store Tuesday, April 15th, 4:30 pm (at the Historical Society)
Roya, an idealistic teenager living amid the political upheaval of 1953 Teheran, finds a literary oasis in kindly Mr. Fakhri’s stationery store stocked with books, pens, and jewel-colored inks. Then Mr Fakhri introduces Roya to his other favorite customer, Bahran, who has a burning passion for justice. Political violence erupts and they are separated until 60 years later, fate gives Roya the chance to ask the questions that have haunted her.
This program will take place in person at the Shelter Island Historical Society.
