David Roggie, a native of Lindenhurst, New York, bought a coop at the Dering Harbor Inn in the early 1990s and retired into a permanent residence on Dickerson Drive in 2008. He continues to serve as President of the Board of the Dering Harbor Inn, is a member of the Shelter Island Lions Club, and sits on the foundation board for the ELIH in Greenport. He has also been a Library volunteer, which he characterizes as a rewarding experience that sparked an interest and an enthusiasm for doing more to help it prosper.
David brings an expertise in small business management, specializing in sales, marketing, and human resources to the Library’s Board of Trustees. His career in retailing and direct mail advertising began with A&S and JCPenny, where he served as District Operation Manager in the New York metro area. In the late 1970s, he purchased a direct mail advertising franchise, ValPak, which at the time of its sale was mailing coupons to more than a million homes monthly; after the sale of his business, he served as a consultant to the parent company for two years.
